    Gbr fry food recomendations/suggestions

If anyone has had sucess w/ these fry, or has recomendations on food for Fry, It would be appreciated. Their Free Swimming for a couple days now. Also, if there is live foods that are suggested i.e. Cyclops, Microworms etc, where do I get them , and if you have any, I would love some. Thank you.

I've had no direct experience with ram fry, but I've been researching it because I think I'm going to try it. From what I've read, the best foods are daphnia, BBS, and microworms. You could culture all these yourself, but BBS is the most difficult and time consuming. From one source I heard that, nutritionally, daphnia is the best food for GBR's. I haven't confirmed that info, though.
You could also add dried oak, maple, or beech leaves for the infusoria to help things along.
If anyone has live dapnia culture going, I may soon hit them up for a starter!
Congrats on the babies! Good luck!

i was wondering how your fry were doing.i was on the apisto forum a few days ago and 2 or 3 guys piped in to a post that they were doing paramecium initially and then bbs.i don't know where you got your info from Mina but there is nothing even remotely hard about doing bbs.i hatched a fresh batch every day(some people in the club do staggered multiple batches every day or at least did in the past) for over 3 years.daphnia are too big for ram fry to take as they are fairly large even moina are too big(they are smaller then daphnia and are really sensitive to changes in water chemistry) i have done both inside and out and it is tricky to keep a culture going inside.even outside the culture will produce a lot and then maybe not produce many at all.you have to culture green water to feed them or use spirulina or something else to feed them.i used baby food sweet potatoes and it can be very messy and its easy to kill the whole culture .you can use nets with small enough holes to catch some of the newly hatched daphnia for fry but it is not a reliable scource of food.i always struggled to keep microworms going the cultures would always go bad on me.bbs is so simple there is no reason not to use them .you can easily hatch enough in a quart jar to do a spawn of rams or angels.you actually need 2 jars one you are feeding out of and one with the batch you are hatching for the next day.nothing readily available(maybe mosquito larvae) will make you fry grow as quickly or do as well that is why they are the industry standard for feeding fry worldwide.

Rams are doing well, ive lost some , of course, but still free swimming, both parents taking turns in "raisng" them, and just got some Daphnia, (too big ive relized) and BBS (which seem perfect) so im feeding as much as possible, 3x a day, and doing everyother day water changes, w/ RO water. All seems well! still prob around 100 swimming and eating, and doing great!!

P.s. , ive read that GBR's require soft water, but these guys are in 7.8-8.0 PH water, doing my water changes w/ 25% R/O water, bringing a total of 5 gal down to about 7.7-7.8. Seem well tho!!

9 days in, noticed about 30-or so fry this a.m, got home few hrs ago and only noticed a few. captured 6-7 of them, and popped them in breeder net, The female looks to be full of eggs again, and both M and F are cleaning their mating spot, (large flat stone) Im wondering if they disapeard cuz she was getting ready to spawn again? If this happens again, Ill have a sep 10G set up for Fry tank. Thanx.

Well, long story short, they laid, free swimming for 9 days, then gone, literaly from 50-0 in hours, reason being, listed above... she was about to lay again. After that, i had wigglers for less than a day after hatching, ... gone the next a.m. SO, as suggested by others im sure, F will be removed to see if pops raises' em, if not next time around, I just got 4 10G and 3 5G for breeders., THEY WILL BE XFERED!
