    NEED TIPS on Raising Angelfish Fry

    Well as i mentioned in another thread recently . I have managed to sucessfully tumble angelfish eggs . In fact im tumbling my 4th batch now . So my question is any tips on raising these. I have my fry in a 2.5 gallon tank that only has about 2" of water in it with an airstone . Ive been feeding microworms every two days and changing the water before feedings . So does anyone have any tips or tricks other than what im doing already .

    Hi Bill - I would suggest filling the 2.5 gallon all the way (gradually) so that the waste is dilluted more with the increased volume of water. Most angel fry are large enough to take baby brine shrimp as soon as they become free swimming so you might want to start them on BBS at least once a day. Other than that - lots of water changes to keep the water quality up. Another thing with angels is that their fins are subject to bacterial attack - one way to avoid messed up fins is to wipe the bottom of the tank (daily if possible) to remove the bacteria.

    While you are having success with tumbling the eggs it might be easier to use a piece of slate, PVC or clay pot so you can pull the whole spawn out and place in the separate tank. If you place an airstone near the eggs they will have enough oxygen exchange to do well.

    Be prepared to progressively move the spawns to larger and/or more tanks as they grow -- maybe 2.5 -> 10 -> 29 -> 55 -> 75, etc.

    Depending on your main goals/desires with angels another approach would be to see if the parents can raise the fry without intervention -- not always easy to accomplish but quite a sight when it happens!

    Hope this helps,

    I have slate type things for the angels to lay eggs on . I have 3 pairs in differnet tank and all lay on the pieces of slate but all eat the eggs so i take it out and use a razor to strip the eggs and place into a tumbler . I have another batch now tumbling . This is the 5th batch in 3 weeks . Im being over run by angel fry . As far as grow out tanks i have plenty of room for them to grow . From 1 ,2.5, 5, 10 , 15 , 20 , 29 , 33, 40 , 50 , 55 gallon tanks available for them . I take a baster daily and blow the fry around as it seems they some how become all stuck together eating dead fry or something . Im doing surprisingly well considering im a month and a half expierenced in angels .
